pH & pOH Calculator
Calculate pH or pOH from H⁺ or OH⁻ concentration
About pH & pOH Calculator
The pH & pOH Calculator of a solution is a measure of its hydrogen ion concentration
and indicates how acidic or basic the solution is.
– Formula: pH = -log[H⁺]
– Formula: pOH = -log[OH⁻]
– Relation: pH + pOH = 14 (at 25°C)
Worked Example
If [H⁺] = 1 × 10⁻³ M → pH = -log(1 × 10⁻³) = 3 → pOH = 14 – 3 = 11 ✅ The solution is acidic (pH < 7).
Applications
– Analyzing acidity/basicity of solutions – Environmental water testing – Pharmaceutical formulations – Food & beverage quality control – Biochemical & lab experiments
